This is also a new technique in treating early stage lung cancer. In fact, studies have been made to make radiofrequency ablation (RFA) as an alternative for surgery. In this procedure, a needle is inserted into the skin and into the cancer site with the aid of computed tomography scanning. As the needle is lodged into the cancer cells, radiofrequency electrical energy is transmitted and introduced to the tip of the needle causing the death of the cancer tissues and closing the small blood vessels that provide its nourishment. It is especially advantageous because it has the same effects of surgery minus the feared complications because of its minimally invasive character.
